Get More Done with a Fuel and Service Trailer
Long gone are the days when the average farmer tended fields close to home. Back then we didn’t think much about shutting down our equipment and driving to the yard or the local co-op to refuel. As we acquired more acres, some located miles apart from one another, all that down time began adding up and we took a hard look the areas of our operation that were slowing us down.
Many of us cut our refueling time by mounting a round fuel tank on a trailer and hauling fuel to the fields. The trouble with these home-grown solutions is that they aren’t exactly safe. A round tank with a high center of gravity is a dangerous combination, especially when it’s carrying flammable liquids. What’s more – some farmers may even be breaking the law by towing one.
The folks at Thunder Creek Equipment have developed a solution. They designed a low-to-the-ground fuel trailer using heavy-duty 10 gauge steel and a 6” C-channel chassis. The tank features a rectangular design with internal baffles to prevent the fuel from sloshing. Hauling at highway speeds is safe with torsion axels and 10-ply tires. A commercial grade pumping system reduces down time in the field. A front toolbox and rear utility box holds tools and other supplies needed for a day away from the shop.
These rugged trailers are available in four sizes. The largest configuration is able to haul 990 gallons of diesel fuel. They are legal in every state and do not require a commercial driver’s license. What’s more – they are easy to tow and quick to fuel in the field, keeping your operation moving.
While we’re on the subject of productivity, the trailers go beyond just transporting fuel. When equipped with a wide variety of available options, they turn into complete in-the-field service solutions. Popular options include:
- Exclusive commercial-grade 40 gallon per minute pumping system
- Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) delivery solution
- Bulk oil transport configuration
- Rear utility box with a generator and air compressor
- Lockable front toolbox
